Whether you’re bored at home or just like making your beauty products, these are the best DIY cuticle oils that are easy to make and allow you to reap the benefits of using them.
The lovely thing about making something for yourself at home is that you know what’s in the product, you can share it – if you want to – and you’re able to make it again whenever you want without worrying about running out of the stuff in the store! So, we decided to include some DIY cuticle oils. So, we decided to have some of our favorite homemade cuticle oil recipes and additional details so that you know everything you need to know about making your revitalizing cuticle oil at home after you finish this post.
Why Make Your Own Cuticle Oil?
If you’ve been following our beauty reports for a while, then you know that we don’t often suggest that people go out and make (or even buy) random products that we don’t know about. However, just like our article on DIY body creams, cuticle oil gets our DIY seal of approval! It is made with only nourishing oils. Aside from the healthy fats and beneficial essential oils, mixing your cuticle extract is relatively simple.
Of course, essential oils are not even necessary if all you seek is to hydrate your cuticles. So all you need to do is open an empty bottle (preferably a rollerball in this case) and add a little avocado, olive, almond, or vitamin E oil, and you’re ready to take care of your nails.
How Long Does Homemade Cuticle Oil Last?
The lovely thing about oils is that they don’t need preservatives to stay in place over time, so they rarely go rancid. However, cuticle oils – especially those you make at home – can go rancid after some time. When this happens, you will notice that the scent of the oil will no longer be present, and its properties, such as nail growth or strengthening, will be lost.
Your homemade cuticle oil will usually last about a year; just be sure to store it in a cool, dark, dry place, as the light will oxidize the essential oils it contains.
